Sexual Content Reminisces of Malala's parents' romance; suggestion that Malala fancies certain handsome athletes. Violence Though the exact moment when Malala was attacked isn't shown because it wasn't filmed, viewers see images of the bloody scene and moments when she was being prepped for some of her many operations; her bruises and scars are a testament to what she's been through. News footage of armored vehicles, gun-brandishing Taliban enforcers, the aftermath of public executions, fiery explosions, and more hints at the menace that Malala and her neighbors had to deal with. Plenty of talk about threats the Taliban made against others, including beheadings. Language Not applicable Social Behavior No matter what challenges are thrown at you, you can overcome them as long as you know who you are, stay grounded in what you believe, and speak when your voice needs to be heard. Promotes the importance of family and standing up for what you believe in. Underlines the necessity of education for all children everywhere and portrays school and study in an extremely positive light.

Malala is willing to die for her cause and that still didn't stop her from pressing forward in her fight. I highly recommend this film. Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2017 Verified Purchase This is the most incredible insightful story. I like the way the format of the story, the way Malala, her families, story is told. Intimate glimpse into her family, her sibling relationships, the power of telling a story, the message that needs to be told, not just the message of self empowerment, the support of her family. Malala ability to overcome a near fatal shooting, recovery is inspiring. Although, Malala is a young lady, her story, is that of struggle, overcoming fear, recognition that the message is more important. Perhaps this story is so amazing to me, as I come from a society and time, women are expected to be educated, However, the global issue of gender equality remains an unnecessary struggle. I will share this dvd with my daughter, granddaughter, my son. I highly recommend this DVD.
Malala Yousafzai was born in the beautiful Swat Valley of Pakistan (nicknamed the Switzerland of the East) in 1997. Her family was loving and supportive. Her father in particular, a local teacher, was a major influence on her early life. Even before Malala could walk and talk as a toddler she would sit quietly on the floor of her father's classroom, listening to him speak. If she wasn't able to understand the words he uttered, it didn't matter. She felt their musical tones. When her father spoke a kind of magic filled the room. Enchanted, his students listened and learned. Malala is a chip off the old block, a female version of her father — teacher, orator and freedom fighter, a fighter for freedom of thought and expression, for justice and equality. Her terrible plight and trauma cast her into the public and international eye. Her rescue and survival through emergency medical treatment became a world event closely watched by the media. More than her life hung in the balance. Crucial ideas were also on life support.
